The short answer
GeneSight® is a cheek-swab genetic test that shows how your genes may affect the way your body processes certain psychiatric medications. At Peak Psychiatry and Wellness, Dr. Iman Yunis can order it as part of your care and use the results, together with your history, to help guide medication choices. It does not diagnose a condition or choose a medication on its own.

FAQ
GeneSight questions, answered
What does GeneSight test for?
GeneSight looks at how your genes may affect the way your body processes and responds to many commonly prescribed psychiatric medications, including antidepressants and ADHD medications.
How is the test done?
It is a simple cheek swab you can complete yourself. The sample is sent to the GeneSight lab, and results come back to us so we can review them with you.
Will GeneSight tell me exactly which medication to take?
No. It is one input among many. Dr. Yunis combines your results with your history, symptoms, and preferences to recommend a treatment plan.
Is it covered by insurance?
Medicare and many commercial plans cover GeneSight for qualifying patients. The GeneSight team reviews your coverage and lets you know expected costs before the test is processed.
Who might benefit?
