What Regence BlueShield members should know
- Referrals: Regence has stated that no referral is needed to get mental health care.
- State and school employees: the Uniform Medical Plan (UMP) for Washington public and school employees is administered by Regence BlueShield. Upload your UMP card when you book.
- Video visits: Regence virtual care benefits include mental health appointments, and Washington law requires equal payment for covered telehealth visits on state-regulated plans.
- Questions about your benefits: call the customer service number on your Regence member ID card.
Washington law requires state-regulated health plans to cover medically necessary mental health care on the same terms as medical care, including deductibles, copays, and out-of-pocket limits, and to pay for telehealth visits the same as in-person visits when the service is covered. Employer self-funded plans follow federal rules instead.
