FAQ
Spravato questions, answered
Who is a candidate for Spravato?
Spravato is FDA-approved for adults with treatment-resistant depression, generally meaning depression that has not improved after at least two antidepressants, and for adults with major depressive disorder with acute suicidal thoughts or behavior alongside other treatment. A full evaluation determines whether it is right for you.
What happens during a Spravato session?
You use the nasal spray yourself under supervision in our office, then rest while we monitor you for at least 2 hours, as required by the Spravato REMS program. Most people bring something to read or listen to.
Can I drive after treatment?
No. You need a ride home and should not drive or operate machinery until the next day after a restful night of sleep.
How often are sessions?
Treatment typically starts twice a week for the first four weeks, then weekly, then weekly or every other week depending on your response. We create a schedule with you.
Is Spravato covered by insurance?
Many plans cover Spravato for treatment-resistant depression, usually with prior authorization. We handle the authorization process and explain your costs before you start.
When will Spravato be available?
Spravato sessions will take place in person at our treatment location, which is opening soon. You can start with a telehealth evaluation now, and we will contact you when sessions are available.
